Two things come to mind:
- check your game settings, to see if the sound is enabled xD
- one of the sound files didn't install succesfully.
Did you get any error report during the installation or after it?
i have CoD WaW, the sound works fine and i didnt install any patches.

1: Hmm where do i enable the sound?? only found where i can adjust the volume??
2: Do i have to reinstall or can i repair it?? I don't want to loose my achievments ;) :P

I dont know much about vista but what i read is when peeps have probs like that they must rightclick and run as administrator or something like that.

Doesn't work :( have even done the same as you told me to do with bf2142 ;)
But after i have start it from the DVD i can start it from the exe-file not all times but 95% of the time??? STRANGE.......
I think your installation didn't complete succesfully, so i suggest reinstalling the game; that should fix the problem. About your achievements, there is probably a way to save your profile and then just copy it to the game folder after reinstallation.

I'm looking for the profile-file <-haha sounds wierd.......
Well anyway i can't find it anyone knows where it is?
Ohh yeah i did a custom installation so i don't have it on c: i have it on another partition on the HD......
Your profile folder (not file) should be here:
C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 5-World At War/Players/Profiles/your profile name
If you did a custom installation, you need to search your hard drive thoroughly.
Btw. custom installation is never a good idea unless you know the game well, cause you need to know exactly what you are doing to install the game manually.
One of your files probably didn't install, so if you decide to take my advice and reinstall the game, i suggest this time do the automatic installation.

Well in the custom installation the only thing i did was to change the directory since i don't want any games on C:

you say you installed the latest patch?
are there any you missed?
Sorry I didnt see this earlier. This is a common problem with the latest patch and you have to reduce your overall sound quality to 16bit/s (or w/e the units are).
Well after 5 reinstalls and the new patch that came out today it finally works......
ah good :), not to much effort then :)
