This video is a few months old, but it's very good. It's a very good comparison. He makes excellent points, most of which I was saying myself when they were both released.

The physicis or I'll say lack there of in CoD4 still annoy me.

Some good points but same old story and sad to say yet another crysis fanboy. Clearly more interested in crysis than cod4. Thats ok but this was not a fair comparison despite some interesting points.

In SP, CoD4 is a mildly interactive movie. No choices but its a hell of a ride. I got more involved with the characters than in other sp fps games by a long way and was gutted at parts of the ending. Linear or not the 'play the movie' feel of the sniper missions or the last ditch defense of the tank collumn were amazingly well done. It set limited goals but achieved them admirably. Terrible physics but who wants realism from Rambo, no fun if he has to relaod every 30 rounds is it! Also looks not bad for as mart told me ages back, a facelifted quake 3 engine. The dude had some good ideas though, the whole thing is essentially a super hi gloss rail shooter, but its a polished product.

In crysis you have a super-open, sandbox style world with to my mind, a pretty terrible game attached. Although i could go anywhere, i couldn't see much point in doing so. It was just more jungle interspersed with slightly varied numbers of koreans. I admit is was very pretty jungle and the physics were fun to play around with for a bit but after that not so much for me.

Then the aliens arrived and as i have said elsewhere, for once i agreed with redwings, they spoiled the whole thing. No fun to fight, very repetitive. My god the levels in the alien ship were soooooo far too long. I can only hope thi was the rushing it to market as i thought the pacing was underachieved by a long way. The last half of the games i found really dull. I never cared about the characters, I never got excited at the next challenge. To my mind they should have used the physics and graphics for say, a GTA style sandbox game not a shooter. If you wanna see sandbox shooter done right go back and play Deus Ex, but crysis never drew me in like that did at all.

I am interested mart, did you enjoy fighting the aliens, or the whole zero g bit? I get the impression a lot of people gave up before that anyway.

For me CoD4 was like watching a Rambo movie, you know its all bloodthirsty BS but by god its fun. Crysis was like watching the newer starwars films. Pretty and all but i do wish lucas would remember how to tell a story.

Pretty much same for me.

Yeah I did, designed very well and very atmospheric I thought. I loved the Alien fight towards the end and on the aircraft carrier were and are fantastic. In my opinion.

Like it or hate it. It's a very well designed game.

Physics in games is one of the next big things, there is a big push on fully interactable environments. Blowing up buildings, setting fire to stuff, using the environment to your advantage. Which Crysis does very well, but could be better.

I love the interaction it brings. If CoD4 had some physics, I really think it would much better. It adds to the game immensely, more so in FPS games.

I know Call of Duty 4 is a good game, excellent in fact. I've said that many times to loads of people, and I would recommend it people who like FPS games. Yes, CoD4 uses the Quake 3 engine, and they did a lovely job with it. I just think it could've been a lot better, if it was less linear, more interactable, more dynamic if you know what I mean, and I wish they'd get rid of the infinite enemies until you pass a set point.

We were talking more about the single player i think oli. Agred though, cod4 is a CS-like game, though less repetetive than cs at least.

Verging into online play though, I think it's a shame no one gives Crysis a chance if they thought the story wasn't so good.

The online play is really great. Especially if you like tactics, team play, moving together and things like that. Taking the prototype factory for example, when 5-6 players are holding it :). Three ways into it, garage, roof access and side door. I prefer using the roof but theres usually always a couple of mines someone has placed in the vents.
